Why Jio has suddenly hiked prices ?
Reliance Jio Announced that JioPhone subscribers will have an entry-level plan of Rs 91, which is about 21% higher than that of the earlier plan. The previous JioPhone plan cost was about Rs 71. They informed that it will be effective from December 1st, 2021. They have also updated the prepaid plan prices of the existing plans. For Non-JioPhone subscribers the base plan will be raised to Rs 155, earlier it was Rs 120. Other traffic plans have also been hiked and they have also introduced four add-on data packs.
Jio has hiked prices to strengthen a ‘sustainable telecom industry’. As per the latest Telecom Regulatory Authority of India subscription report, Jio has the most wireless subscribers with a 36.43 percent market share. As of September 2021, Jio is said to have 424.837 million wireless subscribers in India.
