We all knew that the second wave of the corona is infecting a huge number of people. You would have heard the news of people getting positive about corona a lot and people dying due to corona in and around you. So, it is absolutely necessary to take care of you and your family in this current situation. I wish you and your family are safe. I am writing this article based on my covid recovery story during the second wave. Yes, I and my family were tested positive for corona, it was really a tough time but I was able to recover soon and take care of my family as well, they are absolutely fine now. I wanted to share my covid experience so it might help many people out there who are young and struggling to take care of themselves as well as his/her family at the same time. Please don’t panic, everything will be alight soon.

Symptoms of Corona:

1. High-grade fever / Body pain.

2. Loss of Smell / Taste

3. Severe Cough / Breathlessness

4. Lethargic feeling / Drowsiness

5. Rarely Diarrhoea

6. Headache

7. Dry Cold

Stage 1 – Mild symptoms of Corona

You all would have known the symptoms of the corona at the starting stage. I was the first person in my family to get infected by corona, but I did not release that it might be due to corona, I was literally not cautious about it and I was taking normal medications for my fever. Slowly I lost my taste and smell, that’s when I realized it might be due to corona. Then I got literally panic and the very next day my younger brother got infected and then my parents were also infected.

Stage 2 – Severity of the Corona

The moment when my parents were infected that’s when I realized the severity of corona. They struggled a lot to recover from corona though it was at a mild stage they had severe coughs and colds. Because of that, they could not consume food properly but it is absolutely necessary to take food two times your normal consumption, I got panicked we went for the RT-PCR test. Some people advised, to take an RT-PCR scan only for my parents, I and my brother were advised to take home quarantine since no beds were available in hospitals at the time to take treatment. Then after a day, we got the result as positive for my parents. They were admitted to the hospital. Corona is severe when the oxygen level drops down below 90%.

Stage 3 – Struggles and lessons learnt from corona

I and my brother were at home, I literally do not know to cook and was also worrying about my parents who were admitted to the hospital and I need to work at the same time since I am working in IT, I can’t take leave more than 2 weeks. That’s when my challenges started. I need to take care of myself as well as my brother. So, I prepared my mindset. I had only positive thoughts that my parents would recover soon and would be back home. Prepped me very strong to overcome this period of struggle and lead a working + home women’s life. I cooked with help of sources that help people to cook also I had to work because I was sure the following week my parents would be back home since I need to take care of them, I had to postpone my leave to the following week. Between I would get 20+ calls a day from family, friends, neighbours. I am grateful for having such a family, friends, and neighbours who helped in one or another way to get rid of this critical situation.

Now let me tell you what were all the steps that I followed to quickly recover from Corona.

Please do follow these steps after getting an opinion from your family physician. He/she might guide you for your home isolation.

1. The first step is to do a basic investigation like the Covid RT PCR test /X-Ray chest.

2. Do take steam inhalation at least 3 times a day. To that steam add 2-3 spoons of stone salt, Turmeric, and neem leaves (If you can get them). Steam inhalation is considered to be useful in damaging the capsid of the SARS-CoV-2 envelope and preventing the worsening of infection and spread.

3. Pulse oximeter monitoring can help you identify the severity of covid. Normal oxygen saturation of blood in healthy individuals is 95% to 100%. Check your SpO2 level after 5mins of walk (>95Drink % is normal). If possible, check 3 times a day, if you facing shortness of breath immediately consult your doctor.

4. You can take medications like Paracetamol, Vitamin ‘C’ & Zinc only after consultation from your physician. Take prescribed antibiotic / Antiviral (Oral) /Anti cold medicines.

5. Foods that you can consume during the Covid period: –

  • Take a high rich protein diet (Roasted Bengal gram, Assorted nuts, egg, Channa, Dal) and fruits (Orange, Apple, Pomegranate, Guava) / Avoid taking cold items & aerated cool drinks

  • Drink enough water every day.
  • Include a moderate amount of fat and oil in your diet.
  • Consume less salt and sugar in your diet.
  • You can also consume soup and a lot of greens.
